The Madagui Ecosystem - An element of the primeval national forest

Madagui is home to a rich collection of vegetation; an ancient forest composed of three canopies of diverse trees and an extensive array of timber and bamboo .

The forest belt of Madagui retains ancient trees of over a thousand years old with tall stems and rolling roots that stand as proof of the undying power of nature. In particular, Madagui is host to numerous K'nia trees – a species held sacred among the ethnic minorities of the Central Highlands. These trees carry great spiritual significance for the local people, who view them as shelters for the gods and the souls of the dead and rarely touch them or cut down them. Quynh Lam trees also have many uses in the folk tradition. The people of Laos used its leaves for food, while in South Vietnam, the leaves were used to ferment alcohol. In the Trang Bom region (Dong Nai), the leaves have medicinal purposes and in Nha Trang, they are cooked with wine to create a liquid useful for treating eye problems.
