Each Madagui cave offers beautiful paths as well as intricate entrances and winding exits offering unique views at every angle. Whether you are an adventurous thrillseeker or simply love the outdoors, the caves offer plenty of fun for all!

Explore the Mountain Spirit Cave

Each cave tucked in the Madagui mountains has a sacred story and the Mountain Spirit Cave is no different. Deep in the forest many years ago, gigantic rock gods using only their hands skillfully carved an intricate cave formation in this spot.  From this cave is the source of a mystical spring and it is said that the Mountain Spirit, Yang Bri, lives within these rocks themselves.

To reach the Mountain Spirit Cave, you will travel a winding path deep into the earth through narrow crevices and turns. As you reach the end of the trail and the cave’s entrance, the soft murmur of the fresh stream within resonates off the walls. Within the stream itself, snow white freshwater shrimp dart through the water. Passing deeper into the heart of the cave you will immediately feel a cool breeze removing any fatigue from the trail. Locals say that in ancient times those traveling in the Madagui forest prayed to Yang Bri for safe travels as they made their way past the cave. With its solid structure made completely from the unaltered natural stone, it also served as a refuge for those within the forest of many years past.

Entering the main grotto, you will witness firsthand Yang Bri’s magic at work within the cave. Upon an immense sheet of rock you will see a growth of living rock forming mysteriously from the cave itself, a perplexing and wonderful treat for all guests.

Conquer the Cave of Death
For those with an adventorous spirit, the Cave of Death offers visitors the challenge of their life. Under a layer of triple canopy rainforest and down a winding stone walkway, you will reach an immense stairway guiding you to the Cave of Death. Standing at the entrance of the cave, you can peer down into the destination, a dark hole offering a hint of the forboding atmosphere that accompanies the cave’s name. The trail follows an ominous path with a wooden bridge leading towards narrow corridors. Streaks of sunlight occassionally pass through the dense foilage, painting mossy rocks with a yellow tint.

The Cave of Death, unlike the Mountain Spirit Cave, requires a good combination of health and skill requiring you to guide your body through narrow passages in the rocks below and ducking under low outcroppings. For those who overcome the challenge, you are rewarded with a sense of victory and the bright sunshine that surrounds you again at the exit.  The excitement is a combination of not only crossing 19 floors of hell to reach heaven, but also overcoming yourself in the process.
